For Volta 14 in Basel, we are proposing an installation featuring five Patrick Mikhail Gallery artists working across a range of mediums including photography, film, installation, and performance. In their professional practices, these five artists transform the common place—both objects and sites—and re-imagine them “Outside In”. Through strategies such as intervention, performance, acute observation, and layering, they transform our perspectives and ask us to re-examine the “things” they photograph, both from a physical viewpoint, and from a cultural, social, and historical perspective as “outsiders” in their own environments.
